To provide a caring, professional, well child and family/whanau health care service. Plunket will offer you information and support throughout your child's early years. Plunket services are available free to New Zealand families with children from birth to age five. Plunket care includes home visits for babies in the early weeks, and then clinic or home visits for children up to five years old. Visits can take place at preschools, marae and other community facilities. Each visit gives you the opportunity to discuss parenting family issues and your child's health and development. Plunket staff will answer any questions you have and discuss any concerns. If you need support or help between Plunket visits, please feel free to contact Plunket staff who can refer you to other agencies and community groups for other needs, or phone PlunketLine 0800 933-922. The Plunket team includes Plunket Nurses, Plunket Kaiāwhina (Māori Health Workers) and Plunket Community Karitane. Plunket Nurses are registered nurses with a specialist qualification in Well/Child Tamariki Ora nursing. Plunket Karitane Family Centres provide help and support on parenting, including infant feeding, sleeping, child behaviour, parent/family needs, and other concerns.
