Ferry Rd Master Plan (Phase 1: Ferry Road - Fitzgerald Avenue to Ferrymead Bridge)

Click here to have your say for the Draft Ferry Rd Master Plan. Closes 5pm 28 Feb 2013

The Plan presents a future vision, goals and actions for the recovery of commercial centres along
Ferry Road. These incorporate the views and contributions of the community to date and reinforce
the corridor as a vital lifeline for the city and an asset for local communities.

However, there is an absence of a vision for Ferrymead (a gateway for the million people/year who will be using the coastal pathway and the 12,000 people who live east of the new bridge), lack of public space at ferrymead, the lack of mention of the coastal pathway in the draft masterplan, the lack of sustainability goals/living community at Ferrymead, the absence of pathway around Humphries Drive, and ultimately, the real possibility that under this plan ferrymead will be rebuilt largely as it was before, with no acknowledgment of its amazing setting and a primary focus on carparking.

Plans are available online or drop into the Sumner Community Hub to view in person.

SAM_2075

The final date for public submissions is 5pm on Wednesday, 12 December 2012.  Joint Advisory Group (JAG*) Chairman David Cox says over 100 people were welco

med to the drop-in sessions to discuss the Plan's content with Council staff and members of the JAG.
"The positive feedback we received at the drop-in sessions was very encouraging. People are really getting involved in the future of the area and are keen for their comments on the Plan to be heard."
Mayor Bob Parker says it is vital that people make the time to have their say on the Plan, as their comments will help the Council to understand their views.
"There has been a steady stream of submissions on the Plan coming in and we expect this to build as the closing date for comments approaches. People are letting us know what they think - this information will ensure good outcomes that will work for the community; and help build investor and community confidence in the area."

8 Nov Update

Sumner Village Center Master Plan

Residents and businesses are encouraged to tell the Christchurch City Council their views on the vision, goals and actions proposed in the Draft Sumner Village Centre Master Plan. The Plan has been prepared to support the recovery and rebuild of Sumner's Village Centre in response to the damage caused by the earthquakes.
The Plan will be available from Thursday 8 November in any of the Council's open service centres and libraries. It is also available to view at several cafes within Sumner's Village Centre and online at www.ccc.govt.nz/haveyoursay

The final date for public submissions is 5pm on Wednesday 12 December 2012.
Joint Advisory Group (JAG*) Chairman David Cox says, "Community leaders, land and business owners and local residents have put a lot of work and energy into developing the community-led Plan, which is really, really appreciated.

"Community involvement throughout the process, especially in its early stages, has meant the Plan has real relevance to local people and businesses. It is about creating a future that people want to contribute to
and be part of. It is now up to the community to affirm that we are still on the right track."
