27 Nov Update

Sumner Village Business Neighbourhood Support Group

Gary Manch from Lyttelton Police , Dave Wilkinson from  Neighbourhood Support and Alan from the Community Watch group met with the Sumner Business Group.  The group has agreed to set up a Neighbourhood Business Support Group for the Sumner Village. Dave Wilkinson will help set up the group that will be able to respond to situations in an emergency and share knowledge and resources. For example the data collated will include contact cell numbers for business owners (avail only to the co-ordinator of the group), resources available ie who has a  generator etc, skill sets like first aid and the like.

Within this group we can also share information and keep in touch, should we have situations arise in the Village. For example, all the licensed premises can set up a text alert of disorderly patrons on the move around the bars.  Its all about the security of our businesses and working together to deter criminal intent and also being prepared for any emergency situations.

This meeting will take place at The Thirsty Mariner, Tues 4th at 5:30pm

Dane Bell from the Pharmacy and Tanya from The Headless Mexican have put their names forward for being co-ordinators.

Be great to see the businesses in the village get in behind this initiative so please do come along to see how this could work for us.
